I was maybe eight years old the first time I decided I was going to build something of my own. I don't remember what it was — some plan a kid makes and forgets by dinner — but I remember the feeling. Sat across tables from people who had ten times my experience and none of my need to prove anything, and tried not to let that show. None of it looked like the version of success people photograph.
